I had the pleasure of collaborating with TOgetherHipHop.com for the release of our project titled, Inferiority Complex. Toronto has many talented hip-hop artists but the general public within the city often shuns the quality music being released. Why? you ask…because as a city, Toronto suffers from an inferiority complex that cripples us from reaching our full potential. The 85 Collective team came across the Black Hippy Mix last month and we’ve been bumping it to this day. Our knowledge of the TDE crew is decent, but the Grand Groove DJs (Big Jacks & Royale) really put us on to something special. SonReal & Rich Kidd pay homage to the places that they call home with their new video, Hometown. The Arthur McArthur produced track is an ode to Son’s home of Vernon, BC and Rich Kidd’s block (Ridgeway housing) in Mississauga, ON. Being a Peel Region resident that’s a stones throw away from Sauga, I can safely say that Rich Kidd definitely brought out the essence of his hometown by displaying the beat downs we would get while playing the classic game “Salad” (ask any Jamaican on your block what the term means). If you still haven’t copped SonReal & Rich Kidd’s LP, The Closers, then this video will most definitely convince you to stop slipping.

Robb also graced the crowd with an impromptu performance at the end of the night with some cuts from Hurricane Season.
